Allegany County
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)
CASA of Western Maryland recruits, trains and supports volunteers from the community to serve as advocates for area foster children, so that everyone will have a safe and permanent home. A marketing firm will develop a clear marketing plan to recruit additional volunteers through the use of social media, mass mailings and outreach.
Family Crisis Resource Center
FCRC provides a safe and supervised way for non-custodial parents to visit with their children. The main goal is to reduce the likelihood of violence during these visits and provide intake services in a timely fashion.
HRDC Homeless Prevention
Impact funds will be used for housing services, including rental assistance to ALICE individuals and or families whose income disqualifies them from any other assistance due to income. This rental assistance will keep individuals and or families in their homes and avoiding evictions.
HRDC Housing & Financial Stability
Impact funds will be used to assist homeowners by preventing foreclosures while promoting financial stability. HRDC will also provide continuous case management to homeowners. This is the only program in Allegany County that offers mortgage assistance to homeowners in jeopardy of foreclosure.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Fun Food Friday provides a hot meal for children as they spend the weekend without school meals. The intent is to help children develop healthy eating habits that will sustain them for the future.
Garrett County
Garrett County Community Action – Let’s Drive Program
The primary goal of the Let’s Drive Program is to pay for driver’s ed by offering scholarships for students with financial need, who receive free or reduced meals. The ability to drive in a rural area is a necessity to get s job or attend college and is also a critical step to moving out of poverty.
Garrett County Community Action – Meals on Wheels
Vulnerable seniors who are homebound or unable to go out and shop for themselves are able to receive a well check and a hot meal. This allows seniors to remain independent and in their own home.
Garrett County Community Action – Partners After School
Children in grades 3-8 who struggle with food insecurity, depressive episodes and other behavioral issues are exposed to fun STEM activities. The program also encourages children to participate in recreational outdoor activities to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Hampshire County
Catholic Charities
Helps lower income households meet their basic needs for survival. Emergency rental and utility assistance helps families meet these basic needs. All financial help is monitored through this program.
Mineral County
Catholic Charities
Helps lower income families meet their basic needs for survival. Emergency rental and utility assistance as well as hygiene items are provided to eligible individuals to meet their basic needs.
Mineral County Family Resource Network – Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Eternally Home Grows
CASA will use impact funds to help support it’s Eternally Home Grows program. This program will assist at risk families by identifying immediate needs and providing the proper resources to offer long term solutions. Each family will have their own family success plan tailored to their specific needs.
Mineral County Family Resource Network – Energy Express
Energy Express introduces children to a different version of education, thus making it seem like a realistic achievement. The program, held in the summer, provides two meals each day, a safe and comfortable environment, and the children love attending! Energy Express can change the child’s value in their future while keeping families together today.
Piedmont Library
Hosts special events in the community for children of all ages to participate in. From Easter Egg hunts to Back to School pool partis these events provide a social experience, school supplies and food for all children that attend.
Tri Towns After School Program
Provides homework assistance and a hot meal during the school year to approximately 25-30 students who struggle with foo insecurity and need extra help with homework.
