Local United Way Introducing New Name as Potomac Highlands United Way
CUMBERLAND – County United Way Executive Director Michele Walker announced that the organization will undertake a rebranding process over the next several months to become known as Potomac Highlands United Way.
“We’ve known for a number of years that the dynamic volunteers and partners across our four-county service area have transformed us into something bigger and more impactful that our original name reflects,” Walker noted.
Leadership groups in Allegany, Garrett, Hampshire and Mineral Counties have been using a “County United Way of….” format in their respective counties.
Walker explained that a national rebranding by United Way Worldwide under a powerful new theme of ‘United Is The Way’ presented CUW with an opportunity to apply for a new name as Potomac Highlands United Way.
“Our decision to rebrand at this time takes advantage of a required national theme change as an efficient opportunity to re-name the broader vision and range of initiatives we’ve undertaken across our Potomac Highlands service area” she said.
As the national coordinating body for local United Way organizations across the country, UWW has created a new style guide for printed and digital materials, and the local United Way will be phasing-in their long-discussed name change during that process.
County United Way Board of Directors President Melissa Clark emphasized that services and operations in the four-county service area will remain the same as the new brand is introduced.
“We are excited to move forward with branding that better reflects the region and people we serve. Potomac Highland United Way is more than just a new name. It is an energized commitment to work harder and improve the quality of life in our community,” she concluded.
